WebAug 16, 2024 · Small GTPases are tightly regulated molecular switches that make binary on/off decisions through controlled loading of GTP (activation) and hydrolysis of GTP to GDP (inactivation). Small GTPases typically function as nodal points that integrate broad upstream regulatory inputs and disseminate broad effector outputs. WebGTPases are proteins that work as molecular switches in the regulation of cell responses to extracellular signals. Their function is regulated by GDP/GTP-cycling, where GDP/GTP exchange promotes formation of the GTP-bound protein and GTP hydrolysis promotes formation of the GDP-bound protein.

WebOct 18, 2024 · RAB GTPases can control the transport of intracellular vesicles [ 41] and designate autophagosome maturation [ 42 ]. Approximately 10 RAB proteins have definite functions in autophagy [ 43 ]. Therefore, RABGAPs, including TBC (TRE2-BUB2-CDC16) domain-containing RABGAPs, are also involved in autophagy.

WebMar 23, 2024 · Wiskott-Aldrich Syndrome (WAS) family proteins are downstream effectors of Rho family GTPases that usually function in a one-to-one correspondence to regulate branched actin nucleation. In particular, the WAS protein Scar/WAVE has been shown to exhibit one-to-one correspondence with Rac GTPase.
